John David "J.D." McKay's Obituary
John David "J.D." McKay - of Fort Worth, Texas - passed on July 7th, 2024 while surrounded by family.
John - known affectionately as “Uncle Johnny” by his family - was born on May 10, 1955 to Doris and J.H. McKay in Fairfield, California. One of five siblings, Uncle Johnny was a vibrant character who was deeply passionate about music, particularly metal. He found inspiration and drive in their powerful chords and lyrics. Uncle Johnny was more than just a fan of metal music—he was its living embodiment. His eyes would light up when the opening chords of a Disturbed or Avenged Sevenfold song filled the room.
In addition to his love for his favorite bands, He will be remembered for his ornery and sometimes cantankerous spirit that will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Pennington McKay; his father, J.H. McKay; and his brother, John Steven McKay.
He is survived by his two sisters, Patricia McKay and Ann Underwood; his half-brother, John Oliver McKay; four nieces, one nephew, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.
"The time will come when all of us say goodbye
Feel that aching in your heart
Leaving you broken inside
But we're never really gone
As long as there's a memory in your mind
So now go do the best things in life
Take a bite of this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Make a ride of this world while you can"
Hold On to Memories, Disturbed
Rest in Power, Uncle Johnny
