John Michael Krop's Obituary
John Michael ‘Mike’ Krop of Sachse Texas died at the age of 70 on September 14, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. Mike was born May 22, 1946 in Billings, Montana to Stanley Krop and Virginia Orler Krop. Mike is predeceased by both parents as well as his younger brother Patrick Krop. Mike married Catherine Allen on May 25, 1968 in Santa Ana, California. During their marriage they had 4 boys: Patrick, Jeffrey, Paul and Marc. Mike remarried on April 8, 2000 in Dallas Texas to LaVonda Adams where they remained united in marriage until his death. Both Mike and his younger brother attended the local Catholic school in Red Lodge, Montana where they lived with their parents. He lived in Red Lodge for 18 years and graduated from Red Lodge High School in 1964 before attending college at University of Portland. It was there he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Psychology. He went on to receive his Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado. In his later years, he attended the University of Maryland University College where he received his Master of Science in Procurement and Contract Management. Mike entered into the United States Air Force in 1968 where he went on to serve his country proudly doing the Vietnam War and Post Vietnam War. He was a decorated Officer awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and many other medals and military honors. He served a tour as an instructor at the US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served his last tour at The Pentagon in Washington D.C. where he retired in 1988 with an honorable discharge as Major USAF. After his military life, Mike began his career at the United States Postal Service Headquarters (USPS), Washington D.C. in 1988. He was the primary liaison to the Department of Defense for Military Mail Operations. His skills and knowledge provided him an opportunity to move into Transportation Operations. He went on to be appointed to the Postal Senior Executive Service. He has been published as contributor in Modern Materials Handling Magazine, July 1991. Near the end of his career he became a manager for USPS National Events Division. After years of dedication and successful accomplishments Mike retired in 2008. Mike retired in the suburbs of Dallas where he lived quietly with his wife and best friend LaVonda and their canine daughter Sophia. Mike is survived by his wife LaVonda. Also, his sons Patrick (Christopher); Jeffrey (Stephanie); Paul (Denise); and Marc (Dana). He is also survived by eleven beautiful grandchildren: Jackson, Carson, Hudson, Addison, Keegan, Jeffrey, Landon, Savannah, Dimitri, Dominic and Isabella. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Inurnment is to be determined at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to one of the non-profit organizations that provide support and services to those in need.
