John Davidson Miller's Obituary
Miller, John Davidson, 86, peacefully passed to his final resting place on April 19, 2009. He was a proud WWII U.S. Navy veteran. After the war he attended North Texas University majoring in English literature where he met his loving wife Dorothy Ann Hester. He was a native of Dallas and lived most of his life in Garland, Texas where he raised his sons John Paul Miller and David Wayne Miller. He was an educator and teacher for the Dallas Independent School District for over 30 years and a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association. He is survived by his loving daughter in law Jana Miller Taylor and husband Jerrell Taylor of Garland Texas, Granddaughter, Amber Murphy and husband Matt Murphy of Garland, Texas, Grandson Bryan Miller and fiancee Keisha Maywald of Porter, Texas, and great-Grandson’s Colm David Murphy of Garland, Texas and Reece Jackson Simmons-Miller of Porter, Texas. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy, sons John Paul and David Wayne Miller, brother Robert P. Miller, parents Lee D. Miller and Virginia Pearl Miller and long time friend Jean Babin of Dallas, Texas. He was an avid poet, artist, lover of literature, traveler, canine owner and opera singer. His wonderful baritone voice allowed him to be a soloist for many organizations throughout the years. He treasured his numerous friends and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. Among his favorite memories were of holidays spent with close friends Dennis and Cathy Loccisano of Denton, Texas and of fishing trips to Missouri with close friend John Kirkley of Dallas, Texas. The Miller family wishes to thank his physicians, nurses and caregivers of Sophya’s Assisted Living in Mesquite, Texas for their unwavering support for the last few years. Graveside services will be held to celebrate his life at Restland Memorial Park. Goodnight sweet Prince, may God rest your soul.
