MORGAN, JOHN WILLIAM, JR. was born September 10, 1926 in Greenville, TX and passed away December 7, 2010 in Mesquite, TX. Preceded in death by his father John William Morgan, Sr. and his mother Wincie Euzelia (Fox) Morgan. Survived by his wife of 63 years Patsy Ruth (Philips) Morgan, Son, William Royce Morgan of Palmyra, NJ, Daughter Wincie Ruth Phillips and husband Toyce of Honey Grove, TX son Weldon Ray Morgan and wife Kay of Rowlett, TX and daughter Wanda Rebecca Schneider of Mesquite, TX, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 6-8pm at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. Service to follow on December 11, 2010 at 3:30pm John was a farm boy from Greenville, TX in the Jacobia community, joined the Navy and served his country in WWII aboard the USS Intrepid in the Pacific as the ships store keeper. After his discharge he returned to Greenville and met and married Patsy Ruth Philips on May 31, 1947. She remained by his side until God called him home 63 years later. He began his career in the newspaper business with the Greenville Herald Banner and the Austin Stateman before joining the Dallas Morning News in September of 1957. He retired in January 1992 after 34 years of service. He will be missed by all who knew him and he is characterized by his charity, hospitality and love of family.
