John Edwin Oehlschlaeger Jr.'s Obituary
OEHLSCHLAEGER, JR., JOHN EDWIN John was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Dallas, Texas, to John and Ollie Oehlschlaeger. He passed from this world on Nov. 23, 2012, at his home in Garland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Ruth Oehlschlaeger. He is survived of his wife of 20 years, Joan Oehlschlaeger, his son, Mark Oehlschlaeger, of Seattle, Wash., and his daughter, Laurie Bush and husband, Brian. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Aaron Oehlschlaeger, of Georgia, Stephen Oehlschlaeger and wife Rebecca, of Boston, Mass., Josie Oehlschlaeger, of Seattle, Wash., Kaymin Lusk, of Seattle, Wash., Tyler Bush and Briann Bush, of Mesquite, Texas, and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Stephen Oehlschlaeger, of Boston, Mass. Other survivors include his brother Jack Oehlschlaeger and sister-in-law Charlotte, and two nephews, Micky Oehlschlaeger and his wife Katrina, and Ben Oehlschlaeger and his wife Jenna. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather to Joan’s family as well. In 1941, John graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School at age 15 as the youngest student to ever graduate from a Dallas high school at the time. John was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service in the Army during World War II. After graduating from Southern Methodist University in 1949, he worked in the insurance industry and retired from Trinity Universal Insurance Company. John served as elder emeritus at Centerpoint Church, where he was a member of the congregation for nearly 30 years. Family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. His service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Centerpoint Church at 1355 East Kearney Street, Mesquite, Texas, 75149.
