John Patrick O'Shea's Obituary
On February 9, 2009, Pat O’Shea passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family and friends. Born August 25, 1929 in Dallas, Texas he was preceded in death by his wife Dee O’Shea and daughter Sherry Bush Cornell, brother James Cornelius O’Shea, parents John Patrick O’Shea and Frances Ruth Pirkle and half brother Glenn Dillon. Pat was a third generation Dallasite whose grandfather Cornelius “Con” O’Shea became the first traffic officer for Dallas in 1901. Pat attended North Dallas High School and received a degree in accounting from SMU. He then went on to spend 50 years with Glazer’s Distributors and played an integral part in their success today. He was a dedicated father and Grandpa who loved spending time with his family, friends and playing golf. Pat served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA, SVAA and was past President for WRVNA. He was also a member of Volunteers In Patrol (V.I.P.) and the Dallas Police Departments C.H.I.P.S. program. He is survived by his children, Kevin, wife Cindi and son Michael, Sheila and son Connor, Brian, wife Patti and children Hunter, Amanda, Aaron and Taylor, sister Gloria Lee Pace, husband Don and numerous nieces and nephews along with his beloved dog Samantha. Pat’s willingness to lend a hand and his devotion to family, friends and community will extend well beyond his passing. With many fond memories of his dry wit and “get it done” attitude, he was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Serving as Pallbearers: Alan Holbrook, John Wharton, Cary Rossel, John Meneghetti, Charles Bacon, Roger Smith and Kirk Dollarhide. Honorary Pallbearers: Michael O’Shea, Hunter O’Shea, Connor O’Shea Dollarhide, Timothy O’Shea, Sean O’Shea and Kelly O’Shea. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
