I just learned about John’s death yesterday from a mutual friend from Notre Dame HS in Niles. John was a great football player at Notre Dame and played ball there with my brother, Jim. John was a mountain of a man even in HS. I recall him screaming at the opponents on the line of scrimmage drawing his O line off side. His brother Joe taught me football as well and his other brother Frank, was a Rock Star in the west coast band PG&E. John was a mentor to me and my younger friends and I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. He spent a lot of time at the Rotunno Home in Niles. Hopefully, we will all see u on the other side.

Forrest- we are so sad to hear of Johns’s passing. We remember well his larger than life, boisterous presence in our neighborhood. I always enjoyed seeing him with his dogs at Richland and waving good morning to each other. We know you will miss him every day as will all who loved him.

My deepest sympathy goes out the entire family and dear friends of “Johnny” as I knew him. Forrest, Rosann and David…my parents, Mary and Joe were close friends with Rose and Frank. My mother and Rose worked together when they were young women. There were many times that Rose and my mother got all of their children together and we all would go downtown Chicago (in the Petricca’s station wagon) to whatever live TV show they could find. My sister and I have many fond memories of being with John and his brothers Joe, Michael and Paul. Then Maria was born on my 13th birthday. So yes, there are long, close ties. It is with those fond memories that I hope…and I am sure…you have many fond memories of John, no matter what your relationship him was. I know he was a lot of fun and know he is being missed already. Please know if distance wasn’t a factor, we would be there to express our sympathy in person.

I will remember John always! I will remember how he could make a person feel welcome, how smart he was, how quick his wit was, and how caring he was. Sadden by the loss of John although we haven’t talked for years it seems like yesterday we were in VanCott Hall or he was showing me around Chicago when we went to his brothers wedding. Prayers and Love go out to Forrest and the family. I have great memories of John.

My deepest symphany and most sincere condolences to Forrest and family for the loss of such a wonderful friend and unique individual. I truly loved knowing John and loved the four years we shared at the University of Utah. It truly brings a smile to my face to think of the fun times and laughter we shared. I know it must be such a huge loss to not have that great guy in your lives. Although it has been so many years, my heart breaks and I am truly so sad for his passing.
