John William Pinch's Obituary
PINCH, JOHN W. The youngest of nine siblings, John Pinch was born on December 27, 1926 to George and Phyllis Pinch in Rosendale, WI. He passed away peacefully on June 6, 2010 as a result of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. John was an outstanding high school athlete in Rosendale where he earned All-State recognition in basketball. World War II was under way when he turned 18 years of age, and immediately after high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy to help the war effort serving on a warship in the north Atlantic. After the war and his discharge from the Navy, he enrolled in Ripon College near his home in Wisconsin where he finished his formal education graduating in 1950 with a BA degree. As a cadet in Ripon’s U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, John was comissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1950 and sent to Korea to fight in that conflict. While there he foungt with distinction and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic action against the enemy while securing an important objective near Nae-Dong Korea in October of 1951. John remained active in the army reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after a truly stellar record of service to his country. John’s working career spanned 35 years and began with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC. He was transferred to dallas in 1968 where he retired from the Bureau of Government service in 1986. His retirement allowed him to hone his golf game at Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, TX. There, John was the Men’s Club Champion and twice the Senior Men’s club Champion. For more than 40 years he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson. John was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters; three brothers and his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Kleinkemper Pinch. He is survived by his wife, Patti Henry-Pinch; brothers, Lloyd and Stanley; sister, Betty Pinch Hobbs, all of Wisconsin; his two sons, John W. Pinch II and Clayton Pinch; daughter-in-law, Vicki Pinch and precious granddaughters, Morgan and Sydney Pinch. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 10:30AM, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Restland Memorial Park.
