J. Michael Pocock, 67, of Dallas, TX, passed away December 10, 2018.Mike was born January 30, 1951, in Cleveland, OH, and grew up in both Cleveland and Louisville, KY, the son of the late Herman Deidler Pocock, Jr. and Constance Lucille Pocock. He was preceeded in death by brother, William Beckley (Bill) Pocock and father-in-law, Afton W. Verner.He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marjean Verner; his children Caché Michelle and Christopher Michael ; siblings, Nancy Leigh Payton; Thomas Jeffrey Pocock (Nina); Timothy David Pocock (Ann); Herman Deidler (Rocky) Pocock, III, (Denise); former sister-in-law Sue Burns (Bill) and mother-in-law, Duane Verner, four brothers-in-law, Von (Julia), Glen (Jane), Jerry (Mimi) and Randal (Dawn), and 30 nieces and nephews.He graduated with his BA in Telecommunications from the University of Kentucky in 1973 and completed his MBA studies at the University of Dallas in 1978. Mike was a high school All-American swimmer who earned a scholarship to the University of Kentucky where he competed on the swim and water polo teams. Mike had a lifelong love of horses and horse racing. He was an accomplished, respected and successful businessman who worked for General Electric,(Gen. Mgr. of Mrkt. & Appliance Financing & Brand Strategy); Epson, (VP of Sales & Mrkt.); Murata, (VP & Gen. Mgr.); Xerox, (CEO); Digital Equipment Corp., (VP & Gen. Mgr.); Compac, (SR.VP); Poloroid, (CEO); Linksys, a Division of Cisco, (Sr. VP & Gen. Mgr.); Yell–Hibu Group, London (CEO).A private burial will be held Wednesday, December 19th at Restland in Dallas, TX, with a memorial service following at 1 p.m. at Waterview Church of Christ, Richardson, TX.In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to: The Oglesby Foundation, Waterview Church of Christ.
