John Sigalos' Obituary
John Louis Sigalos Born March 6, 1928, in Staten Island, NY, to the late Louis John Sigalos and Mary Vallas, both originally of Sparta, Greece, John Sigalos departed this life April 30, 2015. John attended Cornell University, served in the US Army 1950-1952, and married Georgia Bakes Sept. 13, 1953. He later obtained a JD from George Washington University. He enjoyed a long, successful career as a patent attorney, including patent counsel at Borden and the firm he cofounded in Dallas in 1977, Sigalos & Levine. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cathryn Sigalos Odom, son-in-law Craig P. Merkel, and son-in-law James K. Saunders. John is survived by wife Georgia; children Paula Saunders, Stephanie Merkel, Louis Sigalos and wife Dana, Adria Ger and husband Steven, and Donna Budjenska and husband Patrick; grandchildren Melissa Fulton and husband David, Matthew Saunders, Alexandra Saunders, Joshua Merkel and wife Dawn, Lauren Lopez and husband Pedro, MacKenzie Sigalos, Jonathan Ger, Whittaker Odom, and Georgia Budjenska; and great-granddaughter Graci Lopez. John also is survived by sister Alice Jonas and brother George Sigalos as well as numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family. The visitation for John will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The funeral services for John will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Restland. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Melanoma Research Foundation.
