John Walter Smith Jr.'s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John W. Smith, a beloved husband, father, cherished friend, and pillar of strength, who departed from this world on November 10, 2023, to join his Lord & Savior in Heaven. He fought brain cancer hard since diagnosed in January 2023. John was age 68.
John retired from Texas Instruments in 2020 after 36 successful years. He was an engineer who loved his work, his work family and meeting goals as well as deadlines. He strived to be the best at whatever the job was. After retirement, John spent long hours in his dream shop he built. If you knew John, then you know how much he loved his Hot Rods. He spent a week every summer participating in the Hot Rod Power Tour and traveling the US with family and friends. He countlessly touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him, leaving a mark on the hearts of those he encountered.
He poured his heart into his family and always put his family first. John is united with his Father, John,Sr. and Mother, Daisy. He will be dearly missed and is survived by his wife, Sondra, his children, Reiney, Dalton, his son-in-law, Bryce and granddaughter, Gentry.
Visitation Service for John W. Smith will be Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 12PM to 4PM at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243
Funeral Services for John will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 12 NOON in the Abby Chapel with Cemetery service following at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
