John Henry Stanphill's Obituary
STANPHILL, JOHN HENRY 78, of Garland, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2011. The son of Fred & Belle (Gibbs) Stanphill, he was born September 16, 1932, in Alpena, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Belle (Gibbs) Stanphill, sister Freddie Bell Barrett, brothers Charles Evert (Jr.) and Billy Gene Stanphill, grandson Kevin Michael Stanphill, and step-grandson Thomas Lee Hopkins. On September 16, 1956, he married Joan Lillian Dietz in Roseville, California. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Stanphill, of Garland, Texas, his sons Jerry Allen Stanphill of Woodbridge, Virginia and John Charles Stanphill of Prunedale, California, his daughter Janice Lynn Hopkins of Mesquite, Texas, and his sister Linda Moore and husband Lee of Sherman, Texas. He is also survived by 5 special people who call him Grandpa, many loving nieces and nephews, his loving aunt, Mary Emma Stanphill, his best friend, G.B. Richardson and wonderful wife Brenda, and many other friends and family. He served in the Army infantry spending time in Germany. He was employed by The Southern Pacific Railroad, 17 years with Pollock Container Company in Garland, and then retiring with Armstrong Container Company. John loved his Lord, family, and country. He set an excellent example by the life he led. He was always positive, compassionate, kind, loving, honest, and funny. Time spent with him was very special. He especially loved taking trips to Arkansas with his family. He will be missed very much. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, June 27th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 28th at Faith Baptist Church in Sachse.
