John David Stark Sr.'s Obituary
John David Stark Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 29, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. He was born December 17, 1939, in Frisco, Texas, to Cecil and Gladys Stark.
On April 15, 1959, John married the love of his life, Barbara Holland Stark, at Marsalis Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. They were married 65 years, and together, they built a life full of love and raised three beautiful children.
John served in the United States Air Force and is a proud Vietnam Veteran. His service took his family all over the world, with his youngest son, Jeff, being born in Germany while David and Sheryll attended school there. After retiring, John and Barbara enjoyed traveling and taking many vacations together. One thing was for sure: John and Barbara were always side by side. They have been members at First Baptist Church in Celina, Texas, for over 40 years.
John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His smile brightened the lives of those who knew him and touched the hearts of so many. Laughter followed him wherever he went, and he never missed an opportunity to make a silly joke or garner a laugh. His love for his family was unending, and his humor, faith, and affinity for spreading joy will live on in them for generations to come. If you were lucky enough to have known the gentle, kind, loving soul who was John, consider yourself lucky. He is deeply missed by many.
John is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Clifton Stark; mother, Gladys Hazlewood Stark; brothers, Robert Stark and Gene Stark; sister, Patsy Stark; son, John David Stark Jr.; and great-grandson, Logan Tate.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Holland Stark; children, Sheryll Stansbury and husband Frank, Jeff Stark and wife Laurie; daughter-in-law, Lisa Stark; sister, Jane Bradley; grandchildren, Jennifer Tate, Lauran Traughber, Jeff Stark, Jessica Stark, John Stark and Lilli Lucero; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Hunter, Ellie, Matison, Marshall, Sloan, Beau, and Parker. As well as many other family, friends, and loved ones.
