John Stephens, Jr.'s Obituary
Attorney-at-law, born in Dallas, Texas on August 27th, 1948, died on June 30th, 2015. He is survived by his siblings Tom and Patty Stephens, sister-in-law Elena Stephens, brother-in-law Robert Murray, nieces Diana Stephens, Alicia Funk and her husband Michael Funk, Marika and Marcus Smolensky, and great niece and nephew Anabella and Ari Funk, and loving friends. An expert in U.S. antitrust laws, Stephens worked in Washington D.C. as a Trial Attorney for the Federal Trade Commission. He practiced international law serving as Senior Attorney for Ensearch Corp. and later TXU Corp., where he became Assistant Secretary of the Board. Mr. Stephens was a graduate of University of Texas Law School and the Institute of Latin American Studies. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University. Mr. Stephens served on the Board of Directors of many Dallas non-profits such as McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Dallas Zoological Society, Kitchen Dog Theatre Company, Downtown Dallas YMCA, and the Eagle Scouts. He collected antique arms and armor, spoke Spanish, Russian and Arabic and traveled extensively throughout the world, including South America, Africa, Russia, Central Asia, and Turkey. A celebration of his life will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel on Saturday August 8th 10:00 am.
