John Travis Perkinson's Obituary
John Travis Perkinson, age 38, of Dallas, Texas left this life on February 16, 2017, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his parents, Pat and Travis Perkinson also of Dallas and his sister and brother-in-law, Tara Perkinson and Jason Goodnight of Tulsa, Oklahoma. John was a 2002 graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and a spirited member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduation, John came home to Dallas to work in the world of financial planning. He quickly learned that the office 9 to 5 was not for him and started a successful roofing business with his Dad. He was grateful to be able to be his own boss and spend time with his Dad as well as his mom in this family business despite the fact that he had committed to memory each of his Dad’s many stories. John was a consummate outdoorsman and was happiest when fishing and hunting in rural Arkansas. He was also a lover of animals, especially his pack of beloved terriers and loved to travel the world. John and his sister, Tara often competed on who had been to more states or countries and had been planning a trip to Big Bend, Texas. John will be remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit and dry humor as well as his kind and giving heart. He will be sorely missed by his family and his two dearest friends, John Moody and Oliver Shields. There will not be an immediate service. The Perkinson family will host a party in John’s honor in Jethro, AR later this year where his ashes will be spread in his favorite place. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Operation Kindness, an animal rescue charity that John supported. The address is 3201 Earhart Drive Carrolton, TX 75006 (972) 418-7297. We will miss you Punky.
