John L. Wallace's Obituary
John L. (Red) Wallace entered eternal life on July 2, 2010. He was born in Ranger, Texas on August 18, 1914 to James and Carra Wallace. His father was a pharmacist and his mother a homemaker. He was the second of four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. The family also lived in Aledo and Weatherford before making their home in Fort Worth. John attended Central High School where he met Jane Boucher. John and Jane were married on June 18, 1938 and moved from Fort Worth to Oklahoma. He worked for the Curtis Candy Company until serving in the Army during World War II. After returning from overseas, John and Jane again made their home in Fort Worth. John was elected to the 50th session of the Texas Legislature serving in the Texas House of Representatives from Tarrant County. In 1948, John and Jane moved to Dallas. They owned and operated the Stevens Park Cafe in the Oak Cliff area. After their daughter, Carra, was born, the family moved to the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. John worked as a manufacturer’s representative for the Jack L. Wallace Company until his retirement in 1979. He was a long-time member of Highlands Christian Church. John became a resident of the Emeritus of Lake Highlands in 2002. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane. He is survived by his daughter, Carra King and husband Richard, grandson Alan King, and nephew David Matkin and wife Martha, along with many friends. John will long be remembered as a loving father, devoted granddaddy and a loyal friend.
