Dr. John Richard Wallace's Obituary
John Richard Wallace, age 86 passed away in his beloved home on Monday, February 11, 2018 with his family by his side. “Wally” as he was affectionately known by his loved ones was born on June 18, 1932, in Indianola, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Speck” and Leola Wallace of Iowa and his daughter Janet Renee Wallace of Dallas, Texas. He was also proceeded in death by his two brothers Robert and Raymond Wallace.Wally is a United States Veteran serving honorably as a first lieutenant and pilot in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1958. During this time, he met, fell in love with and married his loving wife Barbara G. Cox in Ardmore, Oklahoma on December 6, 1955. Their loving union produced two children, John Richard Wallace Jr. born in May 1957 and Janet Renee Wallace born in July 1961.Wally attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with an undergraduate and doctorate of dentistry in 1965. In 1968, the family relocated to the Dallas area where he established his dental practice and cared for his dear patience until his retirement in 2009 at the age of 77. Wally’s passion for caring for his patients was visible in the joy and time he took with visiting each of them. Wally never met a stranger and loved starting up conversations with new people and genuinely enjoyed getting to know more about them.Wally is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Barbara, his son Richard Wallace and his wife Kim Wallace. Grandchildren include Justin R Wallace and Amanda R Wallace, their spouses NuhaKadri Wallace and Bobby Olivarez, Nicole Craig of Austin, Texas and great-grandchildren Savannah Olivarez, and twins Kaia and Cayden Olivarez.Funeral Services for Dr. John R. Wallace will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
