John Houston Watson's Obituary
John Houston Watson, 65 of Richardson went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Tuesday, March 1, 2016. He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 40 years, Jory Rust Watson; his son Andrew Watson and his wife Sara Watson, their two children, Calla and Clay Watson; his daughter Jordan Watson and her fiancé, Casey Peters. He is also survived by his 5 siblings, Malcolm Lee Watson, William Ray Watson, Martha Jean Watson Nelson, Suzanne Watson Green, and Kathleen Watson Tubbesing; cousin, Anthony Austin Watson; and father-in-law Ray P. Rust. He is preceded in death by his parents, Houston Bailey Watson and Mildred Dodgen Watson. He was a dearly beloved uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. John was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Bryan Adams High School in 1969, he attended and received his undergraduate degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1973. After graduating from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity (1976) and a Masters in Education (1977), he was ordained at Lakeside Baptist Church in Dallas in 1976. John served as a youth minister and pastor in Georgia before moving back to Dallas to start his family. He was an executive with Watson Electric Supply Company for many years, later becoming the Executive Trainer at Warren Electric. John loved to travel, and was quite the Jimmy Buffet fan. He was fond of the ocean, finding freedom and peace while sailing and taking in the beach. He was an avid runner and swimmer, and loved getting away to the mountains with his family to snow ski. His laugh was infectious and he had an easy presence about him, making friends everywhere he went. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church Plano and recently involved with First Baptist Richardson. His gentle spirit and light will surely be missed, but knowing he is healed and whole in Heaven is cause for sweet praise. A celebration of life service will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home at 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2016.
