John A. Wells' Obituary
WELLS, JOHN A. Born in Fort Smith, Ark. April 11, 1926 and died in Plano, Tex. February 17, 2014. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 and played football and joined the ROTC at the University of Arkansas until graduation in 1948. He began his career as a sales associate for J C Penney’s in Fort Smith 1949 and retired from Penney’s as a Corporate Vice President in Plano, Texas in 1991. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ila Wells; brothers, Rodney and Donnell Wells; and granddaughter, Jennifer Wells. John is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Black; son and daughter-in-law, John and Diane Wells; daughter, Jane Randall and her fiance, Ted Rockwell; grandson, Rev. Jason Wells and wife, Courtney; granddaughter, Amanda Weber and her husband, Matt; three great-grand children, Elise, Evelyn and Lydia; and nieces and nephews, Tom Black, David Black, Tom Wells, Brian Wells, Linda Weirick, Clayborn Wells, and John Aubrey Wells. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, March 6 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 until 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the charity of their choice or to the Jennifer Wells Memorial Scholarship, UNT College of Public Affairs & Community Service, Director of Development, 1155 Union Circled, #31130, Denton, TX 76203.
