Jonathan Dwight Campbell's Obituary
Jon Campbell, a beloved brother, father, and friend, entered into the arms of his savior Jesus Christ on March 15, 2025, after a long and courageous health battle. He was 66 years old.
Jon was born to Donald and Beatta Campbell on November 19, 1958. As the youngest of four siblings, he was the cherished little brother. Raised by his parents to know and love the Lord, Jon accepted Jesus into his heart as a child and was guided by his faith until his final breath.
He attended Taylor University for his freshman year, where his talents on the football field were matched only by his academic prowess. He then attended Baylor University for his final three years of college education. After graduating with honors, Jon attended Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a ThM degree. He continued his educational journey at Texas Tech University School of Law, where he earned his law degree and laid the foundation for a successful and impactful legal career.
Throughout his career, Jon served his community with integrity and compassion, but it was toward the end of his professional life that he realized a lifelong dream. He founded Legal Aid Ministries, a nonprofit dedicated to providing legal services to those who could not afford them. This venture became a testament to his belief in justice and his unwavering commitment to helping others. He also taught classes and served as General Counsel at Dallas Baptist University, where he inspired countless students with his love for learning and dedication to academic excellence.
Jon's passion for his work was only matched by his love for his family. He was a proud father to three daughters—Bethany, Katie, and Missy—whom he loved deeply.
Always up for a challenge, Jon completed the New York City Marathon and hiked the Grand Canyon, embodying his spirit of determination, resilience, and a love for exploring the world around him.
In his later years, Jon found peace and fulfillment in simple pleasures. He enjoyed peaceful drives around White Rock Lake, attended church with his brother Tim at Redeemer Bible Church, and cherished his nightly devotions. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, a team he loved with unshakable loyalty. Jon’s love for Dr. Pepper, chocolate ice cream, and the little moments of joy in life defined his warm and easygoing spirit.
Jon was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Donald and Beatta. He is survived by his former spouse, Wanda Campbell; his three daughters, Bethany, Katie, and Missy; his sister, Mary; his brothers, Steve and Tim; and a host of other family members, friends, and colleagues who were blessed to know him. His legacy of kindness, service, and faith will forever be remembered
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dallas Theological Seminary, Redeemer Bible Church or Starts With The Heart, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity and hope to the homeless and others in need (startswiththeheart.com).
Jon Campbell’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. We thank God for his life and the impact he had on us all. He will be deeply missed. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15.
