Jorge Moreno Carranza's Obituary
CARRANZA, JORGE MORENO 83, of Richardson, Texas died Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Jorge was born on January 31, 1930 in Mexico City, Mexico. He was the son of a single mother and the youngest of 3 children. As a child he became the apprentice of a watch repair man. This apprenticeship began a long career in horology and jewelry business. After moving to the United States in 1969, Jorge began working at Southwest Service. He later started up a family business, Carranza Jewelers, in Dallas that was in operation for 11 years. Following the closing of the jewelry store chain, Jorge went to work for Rolex with his son Edgar and daughter Yazmin. He retired from Rolex after 21 years and 8 months of service. Jorge met his bride, Esther Alvarez, in Mexico City through mutual friends who worked in the same building. They married February 11, 1955. They started their family with their firstborn, Jorge Enrique. Jorge and Esther had 6 children. Don Jorge, as he was fondly called by friends, was a friendly, charismatic, and easy-going man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Nothing made Don Jorge happier than to be a good host to the guests in his home. The more, the merrier! Jorge is survived by his son, Jorge Enrique Carranza; daughters, Aremi Carranza, Yazmin Carranza, Mayra Elliott, and Danay Chambers; daughters-in-Law, Linda Carranza, Lorena Carranza, sons-in-Law, Micah Chambers, and Mark Elliott; grandchildren, Raciel Carranza, Edgar Ivan Carranza, Alisha Isunza, Adam Carranza, Ariel Adray, Mike Adray, Carissa Carranza, John Asher Chambers ; greatgrandchildren,Mercedes Carrasco, Nicholas Carranza, Andrew Carranza, Daelyn Isunza, and Alivia Isunza; grandchildren-in-law Jonathan Isunza, Vanessa Carranza and Shannon Carranza. Jorge was preceded in death in by his parents; wife, Esther; son, Edgar Raciel, and siblings Gloria and Gustavo. The family invites you to join in saying goodbye to Don Jorge at the visitation and funeral held at Restland Funeral Home noted on their website. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 7, 2013 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
