Jorge Enrique Carranza's Obituary
Jorge Enrique Carranza, born on July 15, 1956 in Mexico City, Mexico, was the first child born to Jorge Moreno Carranza and Maria Esther Carranza Alvarez. He spent his childhood in Mexico City, playing soccer and basketball, swimming, and spending time with his large extended family.
In 1972, at the age of 16, he immigrated to Dallas, Texas with his father and younger brother. His mother and younger sisters would soon follow. He graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in Dallas in 1974, and then attended Eastfield College while working full-time and helping to support his family. While at Eastfield, in 1976, he met Linda Nolley. In 1979, he helped open his family’s jewelry store. He and Linda were married later that same year, and were married for 38 years. In 1981, their daughter Alisha was born. The family jewelry store closed in 1987, and afterward he went to work for Western Union, where he worked for nearly 20 years. After leaving Western Union, he worked in customer service and insurance for many years before retiring in 2019.
In his free-time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music, drawing, and relaxing at home. He especially loved attending his daughter’s school and sporting events, and later his granddaughters’ church and sporting events. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, and Lake Pointe Church in Garland.
Jorge is survived by his daughter Alisha Carranza-Isunza, son-in-law Jonathan Isunza, granddaughters Daelyn and Alivia, and grandson Christopher, as well as his older brother Armando Garcia, and sisters Yazmin Carranza, Aremi Carranza, Mayra Elliott, and Danay Chambers. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and younger brother, Edgar Carranza
