Joseph Peter Gennaro's Obituary
Born on May 1, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York and passed away on June 4, 2013 at his home in Dallas. Joe is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra King Gennaro. Joe credited his wife for keeping him in good health. He reached his 87th birthday a month before his death. Other survivors include children; Rock Gennaro (Tricia); Robert Collins, Bruce Tyler, Sr., and Annice Gregerson (Steve); grandchildren, Bruce Tyler, Jr., (Angie); James Tyler, Donald Tyler, Eric Gregerson (Kirsten); Michael Gregerson, and Jennifer Lewis (Jeff); as well as five great grandchildren; nieces, Margaret and Maria Gennaro; and nephew, Rocco Gennaro. Joe was the owner and editor of the Bowling News for 53 years. He was instrumental in growing the sport in North Texas, and received numerous awards and accolades in the industry. Joe will be remembered for his fierce pride in his Italian heritage, his love for family, (his love for Notre Dame University), and his strong sense of giving back to the community. His passion and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. The Gennaro family would like to thank those in the medical community who cared for Joe, in particular Drs. Bibawi, Kedesky and Harrison and their respective staffs. The doctors and nurses knew he appreciated them because of his smile and his wit. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Jesuit Memorial Fund for Joseph P. Gennaro can be sent to Jesuit College Preparatory 12345 Inwood Road Dallas, TX 75244. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 9, from 5-7 PM at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Avenue. Rosary will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 10, at All Saints Catholic Church 5231 Meadowcreek Dr. Dallas 75248. Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow at Noon at the Church until 1:30 PM. Burial at Restland Memorial Park at 2:30 PM.
