Joseph "Joe" Neal Blalock's Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Neal Blalock, age 80, of Weatherford, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Joe was born on February 28, 1943, in Gilmer, Texas to Aubrey Blalock and Bernice Ellison Blalock. In 1946, Joe and his family moved to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. Joe graduated from Sunset High School and then went to the University of Texas at Austin.
Joe was a proud member of the United States Army. Upon return from the Army, he continued his education at North Texas State University and The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
Joe married the love of his life, Suanne in 1964 and they had three children: Joey, Pam, and Marissa.
Joe had a successful career in the technology industry and worked for companies such as Sperry Univac, Unisys, Digital Equipment Corporation, Bell Labs, Hewlett Packard, and Neustar. Many of these years were invested in servicing AT&T. Several of his work relationships were cultivated into lifelong friendships. Joe traveled extensively over his lifetime seeing many parts of the world, was an accomplished gardener, nearly a professional chef, educated himself on the latest technologies across multiple industries and fields of study, enjoyed a variety of music, loved spoiling his puppies and most of all investing time with his family and bride, Suanne. Joe and Suanne spent their time at their grandkids’ sporting events, dance recitals, and academic events. Joe’s favorite pastime was spoiling his grandkids.
Joe is survived by his wife, Suanne Carr Blalock; his son, Joseph Blalock II and his wife Becky; his daughter Pam Blalock; his daughter Marissa Meeks and her husband Cary Meeks; his grandchildren Morgan Parmley, Grayson Parmley, Andrew Meeks, Benjamin Meeks, Olivia Blesi Blalock, Haley Prine, and Coleman Prine; his brother Larry Blalock; his brother Gary Blalock; his aunt Lenova Ellison; his uncle Doyle Ellison; other family Keith Parmley, Cody Meeks, Lindsay Meeks; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey Blalock and Bernice Ellison Blalock.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 24, 2023, at Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas, Texas at 2:00 p.m. Graveside interment will follow at Restland.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Morgan Parmley, Grayson Parmley, Andrew Meeks, Benjamin Meeks, and Olivia Blesi Blalock; his nephews Jake Blalock and Justin Blalock.
