Joseph Merideth Lees' Obituary
Lees, Joseph Merideth passed away February 23, 2011, surrounded by the love of his family. Joseph was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on September 5, 1918. He served the country during World War II as a first sergeant of the Americal Division in the Pacific Theater. He attended Carnegie Mellon University and Baldwin-Wallace College. On March 10, 1942, he married June Elizabeth Stinedorf. They would have celebrated their 69th anniversary this month. Joe was a manager of marketing and customer service for Westinghouse Electric, working in their Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Mississippi offices. Joseph was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis, Richardson VFW, Salvation Army, Spring Valley United Methodist Church and Beacon Sunday School Class. He was also an active participant in the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and North Dallas Shared Ministries. He is survived by his wife, June, and his two daughters and their families: Lee and JoAnn Asher of Dallas, Dr. Bruce and Cheryl Leslie of San Antonio; grandchildren; Lauren Asher Smith, Sean Leslie, Kirsten Leslie Keating and Adam Leslie, and six great-grandchildren. Joseph will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. We will miss the twinkle in his eye, his creative spirit and comforting embrace. A celebration of his life will be held at a memorial service at Spring Valley United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spring Valley UMC or the charity of your choice.
