Joseph Winford Liles' Obituary
Joseph Winford Liles passed away from this life to his Heavenly Home on January 6, 2012 at the age of 95 in Lewisville, Texas. He was born on October 11, 1916 in Roxton, Texas to Cornelia and Jasper Liles. He grew up in Roxton, Texas where he attended school. From there, he went on to serve in the United States Army Medical Corp from 1941 to 1945, and was stationed at Camp Shelby in Mississippi. It was there he met Comella, and they married on July 14, 1945. They were married 65 years until her passing on May 9, 2010. Joseph retired from the United States Postal Service after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of The Oaks Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas where he also served as a Deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Jasper; mother, Cornelia; sisters, Myrle Branum and Janis Armstrong and his wife, Comella. He is survived by his sister Julia Braaten of Everett, Washington and brother Autry Liles of Flower Mound, Texas along with several nieces and nephews and loving family and friends. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30am Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at The Oaks Baptist Church, 801 E. Interstate 20, Grand Prairie, TX with funeral services following at 10:30am. Interment will follow services at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.
