Joseph Samuel Tarell's Obituary
Joseph Samuel Tarell, 84, of Fairview, TX passed away on August 29, 2017. He was born on September 23, 1932 to Antonio Giuseppe Taraborelli and Jennie Mignogna in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Joseph attended Radnor High School, where he was Captain of the football team. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1959 as a Staff Sergeant in the Office of Special Investigation. Joseph graduated from Villanova University in 1964 with an education degree. He married Charlotte Ponder on November 17, 1990 in Dallas, TX. Joseph was an executive with EDS Corporation for 23 years, retiring as the President of Military Systems Division. He was loved and well respected by his employees and colleagues throughout his career. After retirement, Joseph earned his law degree from Concord University. Well traveled, he was proud of his Italian heritage. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends at the Quail Ridge Country Club in Florida and here in the Dallas Metro area. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Anthony Tarell; and his son, Michael Tarell. Joseph is survived by his wife, Charlotte Tarell; daughters, Toni Tarell of Camp Hill, PA, Donna Kahn of Satellite Beach, FL, and Joni (and Richard) Pectol of Satellite Beach, FL; sons, Rick (and Pam) Tarell of Plano, TX, Patrick Tarell of New Port Richey, FL, and Joseph (and Sandra) Tarell Jr. of Plano, TX; step-daughters, Nancy MacAskill of Plano, TX,Susan Ponder of Allen, TX, and Karen Ponder of Delray Beach, FL; 21 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held on October 7, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home of Dallas, 13005 Greenville Avenue. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Restland Event Center, located at 9220 Greenville Avenue (across the street from the funeral home). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization very important to Joe.
