Joseph Yevcak Turner's Obituary
Joseph Yevcak Turner, 95, passed away peacefully, on February 17th, 2026, at the age of 95. He had been a proud resident of Garland, Texas, for 56 years.
Joseph was born June 8, 1930, in Crowland, Ontario, Canada, near Niagara Falls, to Joseph and Ann Yevcak. His parents migrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia in the mid-1920s, carrying with them the grit, faith, and love of family that would become a hallmark of Joseph’s own life.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Tannahill and Ann Metcalf. He is survived by his brother, Frank Bahula, of Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.
Joseph is also survived by his beloved wife, Martha Turner, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who brought him immense joy: his daughter Debbie Morgan and her husband, Jack; their children Heather Cheyne and her husband, JR (and their children, Caden and Reaghan), and Ariel
Morgan (fiancé Ryan King). He is also survived by his son Joey Turner and his wife, LeeAnn; their children Dawson Turner, Grace Turner, Zach Hearn (and his children Lucas and Cas), and Abigail Hearn.
Joseph grew up in the 1930s and 40s working tobacco fields, where he developed the strong work ethic that shaped his entire life. He was a true salesman in the best sense, back when it meant going door to door, looking people in the eye, and earning trust one conversation at a time. Joseph had a gift for making people feel noticed and valued, and he took pride in leaving others better than he found them.
Over the years, he owned a well-known Look Magazine franchise and worked with Jewel T and Schwan’s frozen foods. Even after retirement, he continued serving others by delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need.
Joseph was known for his sharp sense of humor. Telling jokes and making people laugh was an art to him. He also loved to read and was a master storyteller, bringing warmth and life to every room he entered.
In his later years, Joseph began following Jesus and devoted himself to reading the Bible, growing closer to God, and finding community through his church.
A graveside service is scheduled for March 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. In the Court of Gabriel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 13005 Greenville Avenue at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243. The funeral home can be reached at 972‑238‑7111.
