Joseph "Joe" Wilkerson's Obituary
Joseph Allen Wilkerson, 89, was born on November 27, 1926 in Knob, Texas to parents John Satterwhite Wilkerson and Ella Hall Wilkerson. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jim W. Wilkerson, and sister Dorothy C. Wiley. Joe is survived by his wife Shirley Wilkerson, nephews: William A. Wiley (Dolores), Edward G. Wiley (Patty), Ray Wilkerson (Karen)and his niece Sharon Wimberly (Tommy). Joe worked for Employers Casualty Co for 37 years and he was Casualty Claims Manager. After retirement, he became a Claims Consultant. Joe held professional designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Certified Insurance Counselor as well as many other designations. He was past president of Dallas Chapter of CPCU. Joe joined the Merchant Marine in 1944 at 17 years old and spent four years at sea. He saved enough money to put himself through college and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home followed by a service at 3:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Memorials should be made to CPCU Society, Malvern, PA.
