Sgt. Joshua Boykin's Obituary
Joshua Boykin, passed away with his family by his side on May 29, 2026, at the age of 40 years. Joshua was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas where he graduated from Hirschi High School. At 20 years old he joined the Dallas Police Force and attended the academy where he graduated from in 2006 at 21 years old. He then obtained his Bachelors degree at Midwestern State University.
Joshua is survived by his son, Joshua Trey Jr. and daughter, Rosaleey; parents, Linda Cain (Steve) and John Boykin (the late Lori); Sisters, Autumn Dancer (Andrew) and Brooke Bentley (Craig); and stepsister, Samantha Gipson (Maurice). He has numerous loving nieces and nephews.
For nearly two decades, Joshua Boykin dedicated his life to protecting his community. He was a 19-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, where he was a respected leader, a dedicated colleague, and a deeply devoted family man. Many know him from his years of dedicated service in the Department’s Traffic Unit—proudly wearing the red shoulder tabs—while more recently he lead and mentored officers as a Sergeant in the Central Patrol Division as well as assisted with teaching new recruits in the police academy.
Joshua was adventurous and his friends and family were the center of his adventures. Joshua had a wicked sense of humor and a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a hand or ear when needed. He loved spending time with his children, playing games, cruises, riding horses, and smoking cigars with his buddies to name a few.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Dallas Police Association
