Joshua Richard Ochoa's Obituary
Joshua Richard Ochoa, age 20, of Richardson, Tx, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017. He is the oldest child of Jamie and Lisa Ochoa. He was born in Dallas, Tx and grew up in Richardson. Joshua attended Mohawk Elementary, North Junior High, and JJ Pearce High School. He was a proud Red Raider at Texas Tech University.Joshua was easy going, with an infectious smile and a big heart. He was involved in baseball, Scouts, basketball, football, and band throughout his years in Richardson. His favorite pastime was playing basketball. Basketball was his passion…playing early morning pickup games at the Rec Center with players of all ages, joining his friends on any court available at any time, watching his beloved Dirk and the Dallas Mavericks, and watching basketball on TV with his friends and loved ones.Joshua’s wish was to become a high school history teacher and basketball coach. Harder to comprehend then the melanoma he fought, was his realization that he would not be able to return to his beloved Texas Tech University and Lubbock. He had found his home in West Texas. In Lubbock, he found the perfect place to study (and have fun!), the perfect group of men to bond with (Pi Kappa Phi fraternity), and the perfect young lady to fall in love with…his Jackie.Joshua will be missed by many, including his little brother, Jacob. Even though they were five years apart, their love was strong. The loved each other as brothers do, sometimes fighting, sometimes arguing, but always having each other’s backs.Joshua was blessed to be at MD Anderson Cancer Center during his journey. Due to their wonderful care and aggressive treatment, we were blessed to have more quality family time with Joshua. We are eternally grateful for their involvement.Joshua is survived by his parents, Jamie and Lisa, his brother, Jacob, his grandmother, Aino Brayer, his numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to the Team Josh Texas Tech Scholarship Fund.
