Joy Anthony Rossum's Obituary
Joy Anthony Rossum, age 88, passed away in her Dallas home on September 21, 2023, in Dallas, TX. She was born on October 11, 1934, in Del Rio, Texas to Jewel Blackshare Anthony and Albert Laten Anthony.
Joy was a Woodrow Wilson High School Graduate, Class of ’52. She was the sole proprietor of R & R Typographics in Dallas, from 1969-1989 and a 50-year resident of The Ilikai in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was known and loved by friends for her active role in helping to preserve the Hawaiian tradition of tiki bars—the beloved Tahitian Lanai and La Mariana Sailing Club. She was known and loved by her family as “Tutu.”
Joy is preceded in death by her sister, Patti Anthony Davenport, Woodrow Class of ’48 and brother-in-law Philip A. Davenport, Woodrow Class of ‘44. She is survived by her daughter Patti Rossum Scott, Woodrow Class of ’75; grandson Glenn Laten Scott, granddaughter Lauren Scott Campbell and six great grandchildren—Barrett, Shelby, Sloane, Shae, Laten and Riley, son-in-law Terry Scott, grandson-in-law Cord Campbell, granddaughter-in-law Jenny Scott, nephew Bryan Davenport and niece Leslie Davenport.
An Open House will be held for family, friends and neighbors, Sunday, October 15, from 2:00-4:00 pm., 6406 Lake Circle Drive.
A Hawaiian memorial service will be held in Honolulu, October 29. She will always be remembered for living life to the fullest in generosity, humor and strength. In many ways, she lived up to her name—Joy!
