Joyce Elaine Schubarth Moench's Obituary
Joyce Elaine Schubarth Moench passed away on November 28, 2020, at the age of 80 in Wylie, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Lillian Dedic Schubarth, her sister Sharon Rae Schubarth and son Jon Eugene Moench. Joyce is survived by her daughters Janet (Kevin) Murphy of Lake Geneva, WI, Jayne (Randall) Reed of Sachse, TX, her sisters Lila (Thad) Owens of Fort Myers, FL and Colleen Knepke of Wray, CO, daughter-in-law Gigi Moench of North Richland Hills, TX, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and the father of her children James Moench of Cheyenne, WY.
She was born in Sidney, Nebraska on August 24, 1940, the oldest of four daughters. Her family later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where she married her high school sweetheart and had three children in Reno, Nevada. They moved back to Wyoming for a few years before eventually moving to Garland, Texas in September 1969.
She had a strong faith in God and was a member of Peach Lutheran Church in Garland since 1969. She was involved with many things at church including Prayer Chain Chairman for over 10 years, Christian Growth Chairman for the Women’s Guild and sang in the choir. She had a beautiful singing voice. Her three sisters and her would sing in harmony for groups of people for many years. Their favorite song to sing was “You Are My Sunshine”.
Joyce worked in different positions throughout her life. Her main position was at JC Penney’s corporate office as a top collector for over 20 years. She also was a long-distance operator and receptionist at two different car dealerships. Her hobbies included journaling, writing letters, listening to music, baking sweet breads and watch the Dallas Cowboys.
She was the living example of her favorite bible verse, Psalm 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it”. She was a positive woman who always had a smile on her face. She brought “Joy” to everyone. She was a breast cancer survivor of 32 years. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was beautiful inside and out.
Visitation will be held from 12pm – 2pm on Saturday December 5, 2020 inside Restland Funeral Home with Graveside Service at 2 pm in Restland Memorial Park at the Chapel Gardens II Mausoleum.
