Joyce Annette Gardner's Obituary
Joyce Annette McDougal Gardner of Garland, Texas was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on December 4, 2018. She was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on April 15, 1935 and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Donald E. Gardner, parents Martha and Albert McDougal, sister Alice Wood, brothers Ben McDougal, Jim McDougal, and Ransford McDougal.Joyce’s greatest passion was serving her family as a homemaker. As an Air Force wife she made sure each house was a home in the numerous places they were stationed in the U.S. and abroad in Europe and the Far East. She loved her family unconditionally and sacrificially! After her move to Texas with Don in 1990, she served many years as a volunteer at Baylor Scott White Hospital in Garland and as a member of FiveStone Community Church.She is survived by her sisters Nell Phillippe and Ann Jaeger, brothers Harold and Alton McDougal, her children Rhonda Rose of Logansport, Indiana, Pam Anderson and husband Dave of Wylie, Texas, Mark Gardner and wife Lesia of Kewanna, Indiana.Joyce was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Grandchildren include; Miesje Biggs and husband Marty, Melissa Whitworth and husband Carl, Michael Hill, Daniel Murray, Scott Powell and wife Brittany, Amanda Slone and husband Marshall, and Candace Girton. Great Grandchildren Kelsey Smith, Hayden Hill, Alexia Sellars, Courteney Biggs, Tyler Biggs, Chase Whitworth, Andrew Sellars, Jaxson Whitworth, Kaiya Whitworth, Lillian Biggs, Adalynn Murray, Isabella Girton, Rylan Powell, Michael Hill, Gavin Hill, Dylan Hill and McKenna Hill.In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s honor can be made directly to FiveStone Community Church “Engage Hope”, a fund that goes towards local and international missions.
