Joyce Renee' Harrison's Obituary
Joyce Renee’ (Crunk) Harrison, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 85. Born on November 2, 1939, in Kilgore, Texas, Renee’ will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication, and kindness.
Renee’ was preceded in death by her parents, Hayward and Bonnie Crunk, and her devoted husband of sixty years, Micky Harrison. She is survived by her sons, Eric (Jennifer) Harrison and Kai (Jackie) Harrison, and her cherished grandchildren, Bennett, Jessica, Artem, Travis, Maria, and Margaret. She also leaves behind her sister, Gayle (Buddy) Dacus, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Renee’ and Micky married on June 8, 1957, and embarked on a journey that took them from Houston to Chicago and St. Louis, before returning to Texas. Renee’ supported Micky as he pursued his degree at the University of Houston and began her career as a secretary at the Texas Pipeline Company. Together, they founded Remac, Inc., a successful wholesale manufacturer's representative company in Dallas. The name "Remac" was inspired by a college assignment of Micky's, combining their names, Renee’ and Micky Mac.
In 1978, Renee’ and Micky launched their own shoe brand, J. Renee’, which flourished under their hard work and determination. The company thrived for 40 years, with their sons Eric and Kai contributing to its success. Today, J. Renee’ continues to prosper under the leadership of their son Kai and granddaughter Jessica Renee’.
Renee’ was renowned for her boundless curiosity, unwavering integrity, and relentless tenacity in both her professional and personal life. Her extensive travels, whether for work or leisure, allowed her to forge deep friendships across the globe. She often brought her two sons along on her journeys from an early age, eager to share the wonders of the world with them. This tradition continued with family trips that included her grandchildren, ensuring that they too experienced the richness of different cultures and places. Renee’ opened her family's eyes to the world in countless ways, leaving a lasting legacy of adventure and global awareness.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Francisco Bravo for his long-term, loving care. They also thank the staff at UTSW, particularly Dr. Bethany Agusala and Dr. Kartik Agusala, for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Renee’s life will be held on Sunday, April 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Edgemere Senior Living, 8523 Thackery St., Dallas, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Soles for Souls (soles4souls.org) or the Two Ten Footwear Foundation (twoten.org).
