Joyce was born in Kaufman, Texas. She moved to Dallas as a child and attended North Dallas High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert and parents, Hazel and Bertha Heard. She is survived by her daughters Dianne Davis-Martin (Frank) and Natalie Sumners; grandchildren Jody Sumners, Robby Sumners and Michelle Smith (Kevin); great-grandchildren Joshua Smith, Caleb Smith, Morgan Dahl (Anders) and R.J. Sumners; great-great grandson Cassen.
