Joyce Lou Mize Douglass' Obituary
Joyce Lou Mize Douglass, age 95, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Lord on June 5, 2022 at her home, while surrounded by her children. She was born February 1, 1927, in Nevada, Texas to Robert Carroll and Sarah LouElla Morris Mize.
At 8 years old she was saved and baptized in a county pool and loved praying for others and witnessing to those around her. She dearly loved serving the Lord in Women's Ministries, Youth Ministry President, Sunday School Teacher and many other areas of ministry.
She was a member of the Rowlett Women's Club, Rowlett Book Review Club, Historic Society of Rowlett, Jerusalem Prayer Team and Cornerstone Assembly of God church in Rowlett and Prime Timers Sunday School in Dallas.
She loved Floral designing and worked many years at Titches/Joskes as a floral designer and retired from Dillard's jewelry sales.
Joyce is survived by her children, Janita Roddy Allison and David of Greenville, TX, Ronnie Roddy and Sharon of Livingston, TX, Candy Roddy Rose and Rob of Royse City, TX, Dale Roddy and Diana of Windsor, CO, 4 stepchildren, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Douglass, her daughter Angie Roddy Mixson, son-in-law, Loran Mixson, daughter-in-law, Judy Thomas Roddy, and her first husband and father of her children, James W. Roddy, 4 sisters, Hassie Moore, Tula Cantrell, Buelah Gohn and Frances Flowers (her twin), 3 brothers, Willard Mize, Donald Mize and Harvey Mize.
Visitation for Joyce Lou Douglass will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel. A Service will be followed immediately after at 12:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Restland Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel.
