Joyce Erlene Wortham's Obituary
Joyce Erlene Wortham born on April 29, 1928 in Mexia, TX went home to our Lord on January 19, 2015 in Lewisville, TX where she spent her final years. She was 86. Joyce was a beautiful, tenderhearted soul who never met a stranger. She married her high school sweetheart, James Wortham in 1946 – becoming a devoted wife, home maker and mother of four. She was James’ “Blue-eyed Indian”, as he affectionately called her. Joyce was also a marching band drummer, fast-pitch softball pitcher, Sunday school teacher, ceramics class teacher, and friend to so many. She loved the beach, camping, music and simply being with family. And the family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Joyce’s many friends and relatives for the love and care they have provided over the years. She will be greatly missed. Joyce is preceded in death by parents Edmond and Lorene Williams (Nana) and husband of 49 years, James Clifford Wortham. Joyce is survived by brothers Edmond V (Billy) Williams of North Carolina, and David R (DR) Williams of Port Arthur TX, her sister Rose Sherrill of San Antonio TX, sons Jim Wortham and wife Joyce of Prosper TX, Larry Wortham and wife Barbara of Garland TX, Terry Wortham and wife Mary of Lewisville TX, daughter Judy Baker of Lewisville TX, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The service for Joyce E Wortham will be held at 10am, January 23, 2015 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. A reception for the family will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart, Lung, Diabetes or Cancer foundations in her memory.
