Judith Hoyenski's Obituary
Judith C. Hoyenski died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, peacefully at home in Plano after a period of ill health. Judie was born on March 7, 1944, in Stamford, CT, to Peter and Maggie Calitri. Judie is survived by her only son, Edward Hoyenski of Denton, and was fortunate in having many wonderful friends and “chosen” family, who will miss her sorely. Judie graduated from Bethel High School in 1962. In 1972, as a single, working mother, she moved from Stamford, Connecticut to Plano to work for Levi’s Strauss. After her first retirement, she later worked for two other firms. During her life, Judie became involved in a number of different groups, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Plano, and volunteered both her labor and quietly and generously funded purchases of items and supplies for both the UNT Rare Book Room and the Texas Fashion Collection. She was an avid reader, collector of miniature books, and friends. In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial gifts may be made in the name of Judie Hoyenski to either the UNT Libraries’ Special Collections to be used to support the Libraries’ miniature book collection, (UNT Libraries Special Collections, 1155 Union Circle #305190 Denton, TX 76203-5190) or to the Texas Fashion Collection for purchase of preservation supplies (Texas Fashion Collection, 1155 Union Circle #305100 Denton, TX 76203-5190) Final arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers or cards, Memorial fund arrangements will be forth coming.
