Judson Eugene Mills' Obituary
Judson Eugene Mills, son of Mable Marie Bailey Mills and Judson Ober Mills, was born on December 21, 1927 in Clinton, Oklahoma. He passed away January 24, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. His parents founded Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. From a young age, he loved to glorify God through song, and he and his sister Wanda frequently sang gospel music on the radio as children. Early in life, he heeded God’s call to use his talent and love of music to serve the Lord and His Church. He moved his young family to Dallas where he became Music Director at Maple Lawn/Marsh Lane Baptist Church from 1959-1975, and Minister of Music and Assistant Pastor at Bruton Road Baptist Church from 1975 through its move and transition to Cornerstone Baptist Church of Mesquite until his retirement. He encouraged any and all to sing and join the choir. It has been said he could harmonize with anyone, and that he could lead the whole congregation to sing like a choir of angels. His faith and devotion to God and family were unwavering. He also loved being out on the lake, fishing, and meeting his buddies for their regular morning coffee and camaraderie. He was a blessing to all who knew him and the best Husband, Daddy, and Grandaddy a family could hope for. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leon Mills, and his sisters Wanda Mills, and Marion Neff. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-two years, Helen Clark Mills, their daughter Ruegena Graham, grandchildren Stacy and Reggie, and four great-grandchildren, Rafe, Henry, Nathaniel, and Beatrice.Family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Dallas in the Truett Chapel on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing the hour before the service.
