Judy Gail Lewis' Obituary
Judy Gail Lewis, a resident of Dallas and South Padre Island passed away Monday, July 29, 2024. She was born on July 13,1945 in Dallas to Joby Guy Lewis and Rachel Harriet Bridges Lewis.
Judy graduated from North Dallas High School, class of 1963. She worked on reunion committees, awarded scholarships and gave generously to her alma mater her entire life. She later graduated from North Texas State University in Denton. She was the accountant, HR manager and resident Anglophile for her family business for 45 years.
She gave generously to Wilshire Baptist Church, where she was a member and sang in the NEWSONG choir. She was an avid reader, baker, excellent interior decorator, artist and tap dancer. She enjoyed traveling the world, often with her cousin and friend Annelle Hobbs, including recent trips to Canada, Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland, England, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Poland.
She laid claim to and was the “favorite aunt” of her nieces, nephews and her "greats"; she loved them like her own children. Judy’s three brothers and her three sisters-in-law are so proud of her accomplishments and her bravery.
Her first thought was always to be generous and forgiving. Whoever knew her was familiar with her quirky sense of humor and her many "Judyisms." She loved a good laugh, even if it was at her own expense. Her stories and laughs, brought with her everywhere she went, will be carried on for generations.
Her wish was to have her friends and loved ones not mourn her passing, but celebrate a life well-lived, for her savior Jesus Christ.
Judy was preceded in death by her father Joby Guy Lewis and her mother Rachel Harriet Bridges Lewis. Judy is survived by her three brothers Jimmie Guy (wife Lavonne) Lewis; Gary Joe (wife Peggy) Lewis; and Jon Robert (wife Myra) Lewis; nephews and nieces, Todd (wife Lisa) Lewis; Lisa (husband Craig) Ford; Gary Joe (wife Megan) Lewis, Jr.; Pam (husband John) Courtney; Mitch (wife Amy) Lewis and Joby (wife Lea) Lewis as well as her "greats" the 15 great-nieces and nephews and their wives, husbands and fiancés. Judy leaves her sweet dog Lillie, who will now live with Judy’s niece, Lisa and her husband Craig Ford.
She graciously donated her body for study to UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Willed Body Program to advance medical education and research. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to New Song Choir (Sarah@newsongchoir.org) or Wilshire Baptist Church (lgooden@wilshirebc.org).
