Judy Youngblood Toon's Obituary
Judy Youngblood Toon was born August 15th, 1942, in Weatherford TX and passed away in the loving care of her family on September 20th, 2024. Judy graduated from Beaumont High School in 1960. Shortly after, she moved to Dallas, TX where her job was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She was working during the JFK assassination. She was put in charge of the photo transmissions to the media, and she worked over 40 hours straight with federal agencies because of the monumental event.
Judy got married in 1963 to Jim Toon and had two beautiful children, Kim and Christy. As a devoted mother and lover of everything difficult, the Toon’s opened a once well-known produce stand, called Pic-A-Pec Produce, at the corner of Skillman and Abrams in Dallas. As a result of the success, the family brand expanded to sell pumpkins, fruit baskets, and Christmas trees. The brand became a Lake Highlands staple, and the family relocated to a home nearby. The Toon’s were long praised for their extravagant seasonal designs, decorations, as well as exceptional customer service.
After closing Pic-A-Pec Produce, Judy’s customer service skills led her to her final work destination, Neiman Marcus. Judy’s leadership skills afforded her many opportunities in the 35+ years that she worked for Neiman’s. Most notable would include traveling abroad to Canada, setting initiatives for facilities in Japan, and personal shopping for choice clientele. Her last work endeavors led her to direct and elevate the quality of customer service in the call centers’ internationally. When they say, “your call is being recorded”, Judy was the one listening and improving your experience so next time you didn’t have to yell.
Judy’s closest, will forever remember her dedication to cooking, decorating, and love for family. She would decorate her entire home 4 to 5 times a year for all the festivities that she loved. Her favorite holiday by far would be Christmas. She always had the spirit of giving, especially when it came to her daughters and grandchild.
Judy is survived by her sisters, Lyda Akers, Shirley Knight, and Ann Tomlin; her daughter, Kimberly Toon Lewis, as well as grandson, Paul “Reeve” Lewis II; special friend, Janice Patton, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ellis and Owana Youngblood, as well as her daughter Christy Toon. Judy would want all those who loved her to know her denouement was a good one; filled with times of comfort as she was surrounded and blanketed in love by her nearest and dearest.
