Julia Mae (Burns) Thomas' Obituary
THOMAS, JULIA MAE (BURNS) passed away on July 30, 2012 in Allen, TX. She was born in Cleveland, TX, in 1950, to parents Wallace Eldin Burns and Lucy Dee Burns (Tanner). She grew up in Cleveland along with her two brothers and sister. After graduating from Cleveland High School, she attended Sam Houston State University. There she met and married Jim (James) Thomas. Jim was then commissioned into the Army. They were stationed in many locales including Georgia, Hawaii, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. During that time she enjoyed spending time with their friends and being a stay at home mom to their son Kevin. Upon retiring from the service, they returned to Texas in which Julie began her teaching career. She had definitely found her passion for children and loved working in such a rewarding profession as she began working within the Special Education department for the Mesquite ISD. She retired from the Mesquite ISD. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family including her pride and joy, her three grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents. She is survived by her husband Jim Thomas; son Kevin Thomas; daughter-in-law Jennifer Thomas; grandchildren Emily, Ben and Kate; brother Robert Burns; sister-in-law Sally Burns; sister Peggy Fisher; brother-in-law Al Fisher; brother Eldin Burns; sister-in-law Diane Burns; and three nephews. A memorial service will be held August 4th at 10:00 AM at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the DFW Humane Society in Irving, TX. www.dfwhumane.com
