Ms. Goode was my 3rd grade teacher at Cherokee Elementary school in Memphis in 1955-56. I remember her fondly as a wonderful person and a good teacher. I’m glad to have known her. How time flies. It’s hard to believe I’m 78 years old and have a grandson playing football at the University of Memphis where Ms. Goode and I both went to school. I graduated from Messick High School also.

My condolences to her family. I look forward to seeing her again one day when we will all be with the Lord.

She always remembered my name.
My fondest memories with Ms Julia is particularly her impactful conversation with her which involved guidance when she used to check on how my son and daughter and how they were balancing sports and school. If she could hear me now, I want to let her know my son got a full ride scholarship and his university will be just about two and half hours from her sister.
I guess she's free now and were she is peaceful and she will be cheering on my daughter and son at their sporting events now!!

I'm proud to say that my name is Julia because my parents (John and Barbara Powers) named me after Julia Harmon. She and Verlon were involved at First Baptist Church Richardson where my parents met and raised me. She made my mom's wedding dress! When I was a kid, she helped with children's choir and made handmade Christmas ornaments for my family every year for many years. In countless big and small ways, I'm sure she touched many people's lives and made them a bit brighter.

Julia loved her church and blessed FBCRichardson along with her husband Verlon for years with their abundant gifts and talents. Our families were good friends for many years and they will always be considered family to us. My mother would always share about Julia and how she was doing and always thought the world of her. Julia, like my mom, was a mom’s mom and I know she will be missed greatly. She was a sweet spirit and I know that she and my mom are now in heaven remembering the wonderful days we all were blessed with.
