Julia Ganelle Loveless' Obituary
Julia Ganelle “Nell” Loveless died on August 3, 2015 in Longview, Texas. She was born on May 1, 1929 in Dallas, the only child of R.A. and Ruby Stephens, and married Leon Loveless on December 30, 1949. They had 65 years together, which Leon says were “not enough.” Nell was a lifelong Christian and a faithful member of the Big Sandy church of Christ. She attended Hillcrest High School and Abilene Christian College. Besides raising three good-looking, intelligent children, she was keenly interested in politics, a voracious reader, and an avid bridge player. (In fact, no matter how much she loved you, she’d cut your throat in cards.) She and Leon traveled all over the U.S. and the world and especially enjoyed Ephesus. Nell was a loving, involved mother and a wonderful, fun grandmother. Her death leaves a big hole in all our hearts. Nell was preceded in death by her parents. She’s survived by her husband; her children and their spouses: Jeb Loveless and Martha Kinard, Brooks and Mary Ann Loveless, and Jan and Tom Knox; her grandchildren Liz Price, Kate McGee, Will Loveless, Julia Erin Loveless, Patrick Loveless, Melanie Larson, and Justin Knox; and her great-grandchildren Julia Grace Larson and Bennett Larson. The family will receive friends on August 7, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The service will be August 8, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children’s Home of Lubbock, PO Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408, or online at www.childshome.org.
