Julian Feild Foster's Obituary
Julian Feild Foster, age 90, was born in Dallas, Texas and passed away at home in bed on Wednesday June 3rd, 2015. His passing was peaceful and he simply fell asleep. Julian grew up in Dallas and lived in the Lakewood neighborhood. His father worked for the gas company and his mother cooked lots of vegetables, thus he grew up with a love for vegetables. He attended Axe United Methodist Church and many would agree the he was one of the kindest and most pleasant people they ever met. He also volunteered at Baylor Garland for over 20 years and had many friends and acquaintances at the hospital. Julian enjoyed working out regularly at First Baptist Church, and he was a lifetime learner who enjoyed participating in classes for senior citizens on health and fitness offered at Richland College. Jules was very intelligent, had a great sense of humor and was an excellent conversationalist with varied interests, including reading, travel, music, dancing and family. He asked for our family to become his family and he has been lovingly accepted into our midst for the past 10 years. He enjoyed family gatherings and always had a smile and a greeting for everyone he met. Julian’s best friend Howard Kirby and he would periodically travel together to the Veteran’s Administration to address their health needs. Howard passed away about 2 years ago and Mr. Kirby was also a lovely person and a loyal friend. Julian had served stateside in the Air Force years ago and during that time he sustained an ear injury that would affect his hearing for the rest of his life. He was a tail gun navigator. After the military, Julian studied law at SMU and then practiced in the North Dallas and Garland areas as an attorney who specialized in deeds and contracts. He met and fell in love with Lona Jeanne Demetri in the Sunday school class at Axe United Methodist and they remained married for the remainder of his life. He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Miller and her husband Don, and Gayle Ellis and her husband James, as well as his son Greg Foster, all of Dallas and also by his wife Lona Jeanne Demetri Foster of Garland. Jeanne also has two daughters, Kimberly Demetri and Jan Demetri-Davis and her husband James Davis. Julian will be remembered with respect and fondness and love by all. The service for Julian Foster will be officiated by Pastor Nolan Parker and held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
