Julie Diane Gossett's Obituary
Julie Diane Gossett went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 28, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1946, in Perry, Iowa, to James W. and Carol E. Foster.
Julie graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1964, where she excelled in sports. A talented athlete, she had the honor of participating in the 1962 Women’s World Softball Championship in Stratford, CT. She later worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, where she met Ronald J. “Jerry” Gossett. The couple relocated to Denison in 1974 and married the following year.
Julie and Jerry built a loving home together, raising their three daughters, Jennifer, Jill, and Jayne, while also co-parenting her stepson, Derek. She devoted many years to being a homemaker before returning to the workforce in 1985. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of both Sherman Bible Church and Southside Baptist Church in Denison.
In 1999, following the passing of her father, Julie moved to Lake Kiowa to be a companion and chauffeur to her mother until her mother’s passing in 2011. She then spent time in Durango, CO, and Humboldt, IA, frequently traveling between Texas and her other residences before ultimately settling back at Lake Kiowa, where she remained until her passing.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Jerry” Gossett; her parents, Jim and Jeanie Foster; and her sister, Jane Foster. She is survived by her beloved children, Jennifer (Landry) Gossett, Jill Gossett, and Jayne (Corey) Gentry; her stepson, Derek (Trina) Gossett; her brothers, Jeff (Jan) Foster and John (Margo) Foster; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a cherished grandmother to Ryan (Maci), Jayden, Jalen, Jasen, Zane, Eliana, and Ariana, and a proud great-grandmother to Kali and Kru.
A graveside service will be held at Whispering Waters in Restland Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 12 noon. Julie’s love, faith, and devotion to her family will be forever remembered and deeply cherished by all who knew her.
