J. Robert Ransone's Obituary
Julien Robert Ransone, age 82, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 21, 2023. He was born in Dallas, Texas January 15, 1941, to William Robert and Eleanor Macatee Ransone.
Robert graduated from high school at the Choate School (now Choate Rosemary Hall School) in Wallingford, Connecticut, received his BA in Economics from Stanford University and his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He then proudly served in the Air Defense Artillery branch of the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge as a Captain.
His business career path took him into oil and gas industry, first with Atlantic Richfield then Dorchester Gas Corporation next to Petrus Oil Company and its successor Bridge Oil (USA). Robert then founded and sold Wellspring Partners, a successful energy acquisitions and divestments advisory firm. Next he participated in executive management teams for energy exploration and production firms. Along the way he was instrumental in founding energy industry related groups with an emphasis on education, deal-making and networking, ADAM Energy Forum, Metroplex Energy Tennis Tournament, and Hart’s A&D Conference.
He is past president and board member of Texas Energy Council and board member of Texas Energy Update as well as Regional VP and board member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He is a past member of Coon Creek Club, Brook Hollow Golf Club and The Dallas Petroleum Club.
On his faith journey, Robert was an active church participant and a many-year member of a small men’s weekly Bible study. He also participated in annual silent retreats at Montserrat (and with wife, Patti, silent retreats at Our Lady of the Oaks) Jesuit retreat houses.
Robert enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing tennis, hunting and fishing, and taking train trips and cruises. In addition, in 2017 Patti, Robert and daughters, Emily and Meridith spent a love-filled delightful month in France with our “adopted French family” Laurie, Pierre, Guillaume and Benjamin Kretz.
In 2016, Robert was admitted to membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, and in 2018 he was admitted to membership in the Dames and Barons of the Magna Charta.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patti, and their daughters, Emily, Meridith and husband Brad Hutchens, and grandchildren Lindsay, Ryan, and Vivienne. Robert is also survived by his brother William Randolph Ransone and wife Susan, niece Barbara Coleman, sister-in-law Martha Harper and niece Heidi Harper. In addition, the family is grateful for the loving care given to Robert by Vivian and Carolyn.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Saint Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas, 75220. A reception at the church will follow the service.
