June Ellan "Junebug" Minter's Obituary
June Ellan Burleson Minter, an avid lover of the Iotto and the slots, passed away on November 19, 2016, at the age of 70 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was surrounded by family who loved her dearly. June is survived by her mother, Mary Allen, identical twin sister, Joanne Crawford and husband, Walter, brother, Bill Burleson an wife, Janet Ann, brother, Ronnie Cherry and his companion, Sue, sister, Jeanelle Weatheread and husband, Ray, sister, Janet Burleson, many nieces and nephews and numerous wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her younger sister, Jean Salazar and loving stepfather, Hunt Allen. June was born on October 20, 1946 to Mary Allen and William Clinton Burleson in Dallas, Texas. She was in the first graduating class of Coppell High School in 1965. She worked at Mastech Industries before marrying her husband, Tim Minter in 1979. June traveled extensively and enjoyed SCUBA diving in many exotic places such as the Galapagos Islands. She hung upside down over the Atlantic and kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland. She was not afraid of anything and enjoyed life to the fullest. Although Junie was a mere 95 pounds at her best, she was a ferocious fighter and battled a brain tumor, breast cancer, Crohn’s Disease and diabetes. Her family attributed her resilience to eating cherry tomatoes like candy! Junie loved her family and treated her nieces and nephews Iike her own children, even buying a minivan to cart everyone in their neighborhood around on summer break. She was a giving person and would give anyone in need the shirt off her back and never asked for anything in return. Her passion, humor giving spirit and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew her. June’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Golden Acres: nurses, Mike and Charles, whom she loved dearly, Moses, Antoine, BK, CNAs Sally, Mary, Susan, FA, Monica, Tammy, Delores, Andrea and Veronda r housekeepers Maria and Loven and Tammy, for her constant concern for June. Joanne, her twin sister, would like to give special thanks to her wonderful sister-in-¬law, Janet Ann and brother, Bill, who helped her care for Junie everyday for the last 10 months. Her special wish is that anyone who has a family member in a nursing home please visit them often to let them know they are loved. Due to June’s illness, she could not vote, but she made it clear who her choice was. She died happy knowing that Donald Trump would have been her President! June’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 12:30 pm at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A reception will follow in Lucas, Texas. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
