Junia Ray Jones Gibbons' Obituary
Junia Ray Jones Gibbons, known as Sue by many, and Mimi to family, went to heaven Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the age of 92. Born February 11, 1927 in Dallas to Agnes Aurora Foster and Weldon Stanley Jones, she married Patrick Birmingham Gibbons III in 1948, and raised their five children in Highland Park.
Junia loved her church, music, traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, and family most of all. She served as Deacon and Stephen Minister at Northpark Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir for over 55 years. A member of Dallas Puccini Society and Music Study Club, she passed on her love of music and the arts to her children and grandchildren. Junia’s sweet nature, beautiful smile, and kindness impacted many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two brothers, and grandson, Bronson Smith. She is survived by her five children, Jane Smith (David), Nancy Addison, Elizabeth Newman (Layne), Patrick B. Gibbons IV, and Mary Dean (Rusty), nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Memorial service to be held on Saturday, January 4 at 11am at Northpark Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Northpark Presbyterian Church, The Salvation Army, or Christian mission of your choice.
